[Response to posting on ArtMobile about the solstice. Artmobile is a listserv forum for artists and supporters of the arts in the Baltimore region: groups.google.com/group/Artmobile]
I woke up particularly early this morning, before dark (early for me) and was pulled out of bed by lots of ideas for the writing. Then I remembered it was the solstice – ah — YAY for more light after today. Rather an exciting day considering.
It seems that an ancient part of me that is so much older than my silly brain knows that I need to go outside tonight with some sacred tobacco and do a little ‘Thank You’ to the greater powers that have gifted us with life and the ability to be conscious of it. I’ve never felt this pull so strongly as today and thus, I’ll be outside my wee little home celebrating the fact that I can suck air and feel all the deliciousness of being alive.
And yes, the world seems to be splitting apart at the seams, and madness seems to reign not too far south of us, reverberating through the world, sadly. But, heck. I don’t read the paper everyday (actually I’ve become a professional at making towering stacks of yellow bagged, unread papers on my kitchen floor) and the news on TV is not a phenomenon in my house.
And I’ll just send out a teeny-weeny bit of joy from my little corner to celebrate the solstice.
