[written 1/13/08 on old blog]
I resisted creating this for a long time. Everyone is so busy with such complicated lives. Who has time to visit a blog on an individual’s website? Perhaps no one will read this. This is the fear of every writer. But I must slog on in spite of my fears…
While working on my 2nd book this winter (2008), some kernals of ideas and writing have surfaced that I wanted to share somehow, someway, easily. Hence this venue.
A little about me…Many people know me for my book: If I gave you God’s phone number….Searching for Spirituality in America. Then there are others who know me for my environmental work and regular environmental/sustainability posts in the Baltimore region.
Those who are close friends know that these interests in the sacred and the environment dovetail and thus the inspiration for most of my writing, poetry or prose. (Unless I’m dealing with some heartbreak over a man, but never mind those rantings. I won’t bore you with those here.)
A select few know me for my gardening business. In truth, I spend more time outside plunked on the earth weeding and tending perennials in beautiful gardens. Thank you to the powers that be that have facilitated this amazing way to pay the bulk of my bills.
So, here’s a blog. I’ll try to post at least monthly on this.
Oh, the 2nd book: It is a memoir of my spiritual journey and adventures mixed in with insights I’ve garnered. I was raised Catholic. Became a disciple of a Guru in my early 30’s. Then fell in with a Cherokee Medicine Woman when I was 36 and have not walked away from her since. The book writing, well, talk about slog… Never mind that though, for now.
Thanks for being here.
