Hope on Local End – David Suzuki

” All over the world, political and business leaders have a difficult time seeing from ecological perspectives, let alone using environmental priorities to set their agendas. But some are changing. Often they have learned lessons taught by ecological crises. Others recognize that we are heading at great speed towards a brick wall, and that it’s far safer, easier, and cheaper if we put on the brakes and turn the wheel now. We are a heroically reactive species when faced with a catastrophe, but averting a crash is easier than salvaging lives after one. The greatest cause for hope lies in the fact that at the local level, people and groups are emerging to find answers and take leadership roles. “
