Okay… I need to vent a bit here… or maybe start banging my head against the wall.
There are some of us who are trying to help people and help ourselves, actually, develop more sensitivity toward the natural world and possibly even recognize the sacred energy that flows through all of us.
And… then there are the virtual game creators who make computer games that sell by the megaloads who are creating warfare oriented games set on tropical islands where dolphins are recruited to carry bombs and then are blown up in the game.
What I want to really know is — what kind of impact is this having on the millions of kids who are glued to their computers and tv’s in the virtual worlds’ superattraction (and sucking of all their time that they could be spending outside connecting with the earth)????
And has anyone asked the Dophins about this? How do they feel being portrayed as minions of some silly battle that two-leggeds started and they’re forced to being recruited and killed as a result. I know this is just a game… but the visuals on this game are rather good and if these images are all that some kid sees for a full Sunday afternoon… then doesn’t that merge into some kind of reality for that kid? And that merging into that kid’s consciousness becomes a deeply embedded mental construct for how the kid interacts with others out in the ‘real’ world… yes… ?
I just watch Wall-E this past week and all of the numbed and brainwashed humans who have become blobs in floating chairs skimming through the spaceship is not so far off from some of the stuff that is happening here on our planet in our developed nations’ dependency on computers, video games, twitter etc etc. We have numbed ourselves and been brainwashed.. and it is so needed that we pull back, yank the cords, turn off the gizmos, and go outside and just sit on the ground. Just sit there… for as long as we can without having to pee (sorry that is a human function and we do need to move for that)… but just BE STILL.
Tune into Earth Mother. slow down…. start to maybe, gradually, hopefully… start to see what is real – such as a worm. An ant. A bumble bee with it’s amazing capabilities of flying, hovering, collecting pollen… and zipping off to make honey someplace or more bees or something like that. I mean.. It’s amazing and it’s not on most people radar screens at all.
Nope.. they’re watching their TV screens. Computer screens. etc.
Okay.. confessions here. I’m really the one who needs to go sit on the ground. It’s me. My gardening season for my professional gardening business starts up this week and not soon enough. I need to get back to that earthy, loamy garden reality.. and out of my head and away from the Facebook, cyberlinked digitized busyness.
But I’m concerned. Very concerned… After visiting a friend’s house this weekend and seeing a virtual game with dolphins that get killed in some silly mock-up of a battle. Even dogs were used in the battle. Little instant factories that sprout out of nowhere to create bombs and tanks etc. Cripes. Isn’t this the kind of thing we’re trying to evolve out of… away from? How are we going to do that when these gaming creators keep on creating and kids keep on buying or their parents keep on buying –these mind-blowing (in a negative way) virtual realities?
ugh, ugh. ugh.
I hear the birds outside right now. The sun is about to rise. I need to get away from my computer.
