Well, I’m a bit braindead right now. Full day of gardening yesterday and tonight and that leaves me a bit like a deflated tire…
BUT — our big garden tilling day at the Medicine Garden is tomorrow! Whoo-hoo..!!!!
My gardening assistants from my gardening company are going to help out, plus there will be a bunch of others whom Jasmine has recruited. Hopefully there will be some stronger, younger backs than mine. Hopefully… ;~)
But I’ve already gone and purchased 2 dozen lavender plants wholesale, for the garden. Plus my really cool awardwinning tomato seeds that I ordered from CA have all sprouted in my garden window. Plus I even have some lavender seeds that have sprouted which is exceptional since they usually never germinate.. really tough ones to start by seed. I’ll really be babying these plants along.
So.. there will be much to share.. I’m curious to see what prayer or blessing Jas does to start us off with, before we break the ground with the shovel.
And next week we plant the plant babies… don’t want to plant them right in the newly tilled soil. Too disturbing for the plant babies and their sensitive roots. Need to let the soil and all the microorganisms and macroorganism rekindle their connections along with the capillary action of the soil after the big tilling.
More to come…
One last thing, I really have to thank Keith Losoya, a buddy of mine and former Exec Director of the Chesapeake Sustainable Business Alliance, for his contribution of a goodly amount of compost. Keith brought us really beautiful compost from a farm in Carroll County where he takes the food waste from restaurants, caterers etc that his company hauls away. Keith’s company is called Waste Neutral Group.
Thank you, KEITH! Let’s hear for some beautiful compost for garden to really start off on the right foot. (or is that ‘root’? ;~)
