Petting tomatoes…And some seedlings like MoTown… ;~) SG Journal

[Jas and I had a brief little email dialogue.. and I thought I'd put it in here...]
Hey Jas,
- some interesting news… For growing tomatoes.. The plants love to be petted.. From when they’re big enough to pet (gently) until they’re ready to return to the soil… Research has shown this… Plus you can always sing to them too.. ;~)

Hi de ho sista,
ohohohohohoho   When tomatoes are little   they like crooning sorts of music,  the old motown is good for that, when they get to be big enough to  put out their flowers   they like to really jam sometimes  ohohohohoho   Potatoes like heavy classical though   but most baby plants like the crooning thang I suppose like all babies seem to  ohohohohoho   For some reason though   they all seem to like the Cheshire Cat song   [from Alice in Wonderland] go figure  ohohohohohohoho   I haven’t known many plants that didn’t like to be touched   even those plants that it hurts us to touch   still seem to like it when we do it  hmmmmm   as long as we aren’t tearing and ripping at ‘em   they seem to respond to gentle touch.  I have always liked to sing and gently chat with them as I am reaping their fruits too,  seems to make them sorta of glad to be sharing with me.  And at least once a day I like to tell them how much I appreciate them.   You have to remember that they live a whole lifetime in just one growing season so time goes very quickly for them. Every year I quickly get into the habit of chatting with them every time I let the dog out to do her business.  It seems like a simple thing to do to make them happy considering all that they give to us. They live such a short time and give so very very much.
love ya bunches   ttfn jas
