April – Full Fish Moon

This comes from my friend, Marney Bruce, again… who is wonderful about sending monthly new and full moon updates. Marney lives in the DC area and is very active as a co-founder and organizer with Simplicity Matters group. I love Marney and her work.
Happy New Moon, everyone. I don’t have much to say because I’ve been spending so much time outside enjoying the wildflowers. I hope you have, too. I will be leading a wildflower walk at Carderock on the 30th and would love to have some of you join me! Check out the Maryland Native Plant Society website http://mdflora.org/events.html?eventId=301727&EventViewMode=EventDetails.
The full moon this month is on the 18th.• Full Pink Moon – April This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names for this month’s celestial body include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn.

Hugs from Marney
