As I get down to the wire–I should say ‘we’ (Robert Shelley the amazing graphic designer and I) –feel so fatigued with this technical and tedious part of the book production. We have to make sure that every indent is in place and words that are supposed to be in italics are in italics, and words are hyphenated properly when they wrap around the line, etc., etc.
The creative joy of writing and creating prose that will sing to the reader that I was basking in all summer has replaced by monotonous reading again and again the same lines that seem to become lifeless with the repetition of attempting to catch all the edits needed.
Yet across from me is a photograph, a postcard, of four dolphins leaping in the ocean. And I am reminded that they are the ones who called me to the Ocean to get the message to do this book. This Messages from Mother book. It was they who beckoned me in the middle of June at the end of an amazing healing session so I could somehow write this book for Mother, Earth Mother. I am so grateful to them and their beautiful intelligence and presence of wisdom on the planet that so yearns to be heard and appreciated over the cacophony of our two-legged noise.
I dedicated this book to The Future Generations of All Species because we need to have a huge shift in our ways, our post-modern ways so that the future generations of all species can have a positive future. My hope is that this book will wake some people up, nudge some readers and they will in turn nudge their friends to start to see the world and live in the world in such a way that we do understand that we are all connected and we are all in community with all other life on the planet.
Writing is a lonely process. Editing and re-editing and going over final copies of text before sending a book off to the printer is not fun work. But beyond all this is a calling that I have felt that I needed to honor and am still honoring.
Here’s to the book making it off to the printer successfully at the end of this week, the end of Sept, 2012, just before the full moon. I have been pregnant too long with this and it needs to be birthed and get out into the world now. Yes!
