Our beloved Katherine Carter. Born April 24th, 1912. Passed June 17th, 2013. One amazing, independent, stubborn, huge-hearted centenarian. Photo taken 2006 (I think- can’t exactly remember the year.) She was at my family’s Christmas celebration that year. She did not go to any more Christmases outside her house after that year. It got too hard for her. She was about 94 in this photo, give or take a year. If you could only know how many jars of canned food she cranked out after this photo was taken… every summer and fall… Oh, I could go on and on… Such a love. Beautiful Love. Missing you, Katherine. But so grateful you are now with your beloved husband, sister, and all the others who were waiting for you on the other side. Big Love to you.
Now I look at your orchids here at my house, and the christmas cactus you gave me years ago and I feel like you are here with me. And this photo… and I can still hear your voice in my head. I love you. Thank you for being the teacher whom you were, and all the great laughs and conversations over the kitchen table while you canned and cooked pie, etc. Thank you for being you. And being there. xoxoxo
Ps… you always asked me how my book sales were going, and how many books I had left to sell. Well, your minister mentioned the God book several times in his eulogy about you, and it’s started a run on the book. Plus, helped me discover that Ingram had mysteriously dropped it from distribution… a big hole in any sales opportunities. Thank you, Katherine for this gift from the other side. Did you set that up too? ;~) Love you!
