Pamoon Press is thrilled to announce that Christina Chambreau won the Messages from Mother…. Earth Mother Eco-Friendly Holidays Contest. Congratulations, Christina! Christina will receive a free signed copy of my book “Messages from Mother…. Earth Mother.”
From Nov 23rd to Dec 1st a contest was organized on the Messages from Mother…. Earth Mother Facebook page. Here is the contest description: I (Mare) would love to know the most creative ways you organize or gift others in the holiday season that support our planet and Her well-being. So much of the holidays are about materialism and consuming more, which is not necessarily so great for our planet. What do you do or intend to do that serves Earth Mother? You can upload a photo or text or even a video, if you get that creative.
These are all of the ideas submitted:
- · What I do is share the riches of her harvest. I gather the fruits and then, with love and care, create many different kinds of canned foods (jam, marmalade, chutney, pickles). These then become my gifts for the holidays, and other days as well. – Elmdea Adams
• So many wonderful rituals. LOCAL: I buy smoked salmon as gifts for family from Avi Friedman, who fishes for them in Alaska and smokes them here; RE-USE: I put out baskets of items, books, magazines, preserved foods that I would love to go to a new home and let people help themselves; I support several local groups – Baltimore Book Bank, safe house of hope; in addition to
The Hunger Project SHARE: our garden club collects greens from members’ yards, divides them into big bags of greens for ourselves and our friends. THANKS: I gift our trash collectors with money along with a letter thanking them for picking up and dumping my trash and recycle cans (I do not use plastic or paper bags/liners). Thanks, Mare, for asking us. – Christina Chambreau (Christina also happens to be a very gifted holistic veterinarian too.)
• I crochet gifts for people and use the scraps of leftover yarn for stuffing so there’s no wasting my yarn at all. – Hazel Stubbs
• I am making all-natural dish detergent, hand-sanitizers, household cleaners and laundry detergent for all on my list. I’m using organic, natural ingredients such as washing soda, diatomaceous earth, salt and loads of essential oils. I will be packaging them all in recycled containers I have saved throughout the year. – Linnea Tober-Murphy
