I have heard this quote several times and discovered this excerpt on a website today. This provides a little more background on what the Dalai Lama said when he made the quote.
At the Vancouver Peace Summit in September 2009, His Holiness the Dalai Lama declared that “The world will be saved by the Western woman.” According to a report by The Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute, His Holiness said, “Some people may call me a feminist … but we need more effort to promote basic human values — human compassion, human affection. And in that respect, females have more sensitivity for others’ pain and suffering.”
What the Dalai Lama is also alluding to is that “Western” women have access to so many resources to affect change. It’s up to us to take the initiative or to follow through more proactively on what we’ve already initiated. Yes …

Thank you for your comment, though I might word it differently. We in the Western World have more access to resources for positive social change. Education, technology, fathers and brothers and husbands with more resources to tap… But there are very intelligent women all over the world. In every nation, whether developed or undeveloped.

Women of the Western World simply have more freedom and the ability to reach up and influence higher in the male hierarchy. As Women, we simply have to ensure that the testosterone- led Western World is tempered and nurtured by the more forgiving and loving Feminine. The world lives in Fear…let us Women change that to The world loves in Peace xxxx
